This season, Witless Bay Fire Dept has had two significant brush fires.

Witless Bay Fire would like to remind residents that the ground is extremely dry with lots of dead vegetation from the winter months. This dry vegetation can lead to out-of-control brush fires quickly. These fires can be extremely difficult to control and could spread quickly into the trees or neighbourhoods.

The fire below was almost the size of two soccer fields before members were able to get it under control.

We ask residents to please refrain from burning if at all possible during these dry conditions.
